Where every number comes from
We only use figures we could read in the publisher's own release, or in a news report of it when the original was blocked (marked “read via”). Lists circulating on aggregator sites without a primary source are left out.
We refresh this page as the new reports land: Rover and Chewy in November, Trupanion in December, Embrace in January, U.S. News in July (dogs) and September (cats).
